Yesterday, 48 of the best poker players in the world and uber-affluent individuals all put up $1 Million each to take part in the unprecedented “Big One for One Drop” poker tournament at the 2012 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Now, only 17 hopefuls remain late on Day 2, and it’s our very own Insta Poker pro Antonio Esfandiari who is the current chipleader, with $23 Million in chips.
The largest buy-in live poker tournament ever played, the Big One for One Drop sold out with the maximum number of 48 entering, creating a massive $42,666,672 prizepool ($5,533,328 – 11.11% from each buy-in – will go to the One Drop charity) and guaranteeing the winner a $18,346,673 payout. The payout is the largest-ever first place prize awarded in any sporting event of any kind outside of boxing, and the winner will also receive the first ever platinum WSOP bracelet.
